Ather Energy, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, hosted its third annual Ather Community Day 2025, where it unveiled a series of significant product and technology developments. The event saw a large gathering of Ather users and enthusiasts, celebrating the brand’s growth and vision for the future of electric mobility.

EL Platform: The Foundation for the Future
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the all-new EL platform, Ather’s first new vehicle architecture since the 450 series. Built on insights from over 2.6 million kilometers of field data, the EL platform is designed for versatility, scalability, and cost optimization. This monolithic design approach, featuring a unibody steel frame, allows for a significant reduction in manufacturing costs and faster innovation.

Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy, explained the significance of the platform:
“With the EL platform, we are laying the foundation for Ather’s next phase of growth. Just as the 450 defined our first chapter, EL will define the next, enabling us to develop multiple types of scooters at scale far more efficiently”. The simplified architecture enables a 15% faster assembly process and allows for a two-fold increase in service intervals to 10,000 km, reducing service time by up to half.

The EL platform is designed to accommodate various scooter types, from a low-cost mass-market model to a maxi-scooter and a family scooter, with support for different battery sizes (2 kWh to 5 kWh) and wheel sizes (12-inch and 14-inch). The first scooter built on this platform, the EL01, is expected to be a very affordable, mass-market model.

Redux: A Glimpse into the Future
Ather also showcased Redux, a striking moto-scooter concept that looks cool, sporty, and muscular, offering a glimpse into the brand’s performance-oriented future. The concept features a futuristic design with a lightweight aluminum frame, a 3D-printed lattice mesh seat, and body panels made from sustainable materials like AmplyTex. The Redux introduces “Morph-UI,” a next-gen HMI that changes its layout based on the riding context, making the vehicle feel like a natural extension of the rider’s body. It also includes a thrilling “Take off” mode for ultra-fast acceleration and active suspension that can be adjusted based on the riding situation.

Major Software and Product Updates
Ather announced that its latest software, AtherStack 7.0, is rolling out as a major OTA update. The most significant new feature is the introduction of voice as a new medium of interaction, powered by a Large Language Model (LLM) tuned for Indian dialects, allowing riders to have natural conversations with their scooter. Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO, said, “With AtherStack™™ 7.0, we’re bringing AI into everyday riding… Voice is the first step in that journey, an interface beyond buttons that makes rides smarter, safer, and more intuitive”.

The update also includes a host of new safety and convenience features:
- Pothole Alerts: Leveraging data from the extensive Ather fleet, this feature proactively warns riders of bad road patches and suggests better routes.
- Crash Alerts: The system can distinguish between minor and severe accidents and automatically notify emergency contacts with the live location.
- New Security Features: The ParkSafe and LockSafe features have been added to the theft-safety suite, with the ability to remotely immobilize the scooter via the app.
- Infinite Cruise™: A new advanced cruise control system designed for Indian riding conditions has been introduced for the 2025 Ather 450 Apex. It includes CityCruise, Hill Control, and Crawl Control modes for different riding scenarios.

In a move to delight existing customers, the Rizta scooter will receive a major OTA update that activates full touchscreen functionality on the dashboard. This update, made possible by the scooter’s pre-installed advanced hardware, also introduces a new Eco Mode and a refreshed user interface.

The event was a celebration of Ather’s growing community, which was evident in the awards ceremony where the brand honored users who had completed the most kilometers, achieved the highest top speeds, and optimized their range. The event also featured experience zones, a Magic Twist track, stunt zones, and music, providing a comprehensive and engaging experience for all attendees.
