Introduction
We spent a week with the all-new Maruti Suzuki Victoris recently, specifically the top-trim Smart Hybrid version. To be honest, there was a bit of initial confusion on our end; we usually expect the top-of-the-line Strong Hybrid for review, but we found ourselves behind the wheel of the Smart Hybrid instead. While it lacks the dedicated EV-only driving modes found in its Strong Hybrid sibling, this variant is the “everything” package for those looking at the Maruti Suzuki Arena network. After putting it through its paces in both the city and on the highway, here is what we discovered.

External Design and Styling
The Victoris is a looker. It sports a minimalist front styling that feels very “European”—dare we say, a bit of Volkswagen inspiration there? It has a bulky, “king-size” presence on the road. It seems Maruti Suzuki took notes after the market’s preference for the beefier Thar over the Jimny, resulting in an SUV that feels substantial. The rear is equally impressive with continuous running tail lamps that give it a very modern, premium signature at night.

Interior – Cabin Quality and Space
Inside, the space is tremendous. The cabin feels airy and premium, thanks in part to a massive panoramic sunroof. We were pleasantly surprised by the ventilated seats, a feature that feels genuinely high-end in this segment. Practicality is a strong suit here: there is plenty of storage for water bottles, a useful armrest console, and rear AC vents. A big plus is the 60:40 split rear seats—if you’re a cyclist, you can easily slide a full-size bike in the back. Since our test car was a petrol version (no CNG tank), the boot was spacious and fully usable.

Dimensions
The Victoris holds its own against segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in terms of footprint. It measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and stands 1,655 mm tall. With a healthy ground clearance of 210 mm and a 2,600 mm wheelbase, it offers the “big car” feel that Indian SUV buyers crave.

Engine and Performance
Under the hood of the Smart Hybrid is the 1.5L K15C engine. Driving it is a classic Suzuki experience: the suspension handles speed breakers beautifully, and the brakes are exceptionally responsive. However, it’s not all silent. We found the engine to be quite noisy, especially compared to the refined units in the Creta or Seltos. When you hit speeds of 100 kmph, the cabin noise is noticeable, which takes away from the otherwise premium feel. While the Smart Hybrid is efficient, it doesn’t offer the electric-only driving range or the specific drive modes found in the Strong Hybrid 4×4/AWD versions.

Features
This top-trim variant is loaded. You get a 360-degree camera, a crisp Head-Up Display (HUD), and a high-quality music system. A massive addition is the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite. We particularly liked that Maruti included dedicated physical switches to operate or cancel specific ADAS features—much better than fumbling through a touchscreen while driving. Suzuki Connect also proved its worth with seamless map integration and real-time tracking.

Color Options
The Victoris is available in 10 striking colors, including several dual-tone options. Choices include Eternal Blue, Sizzling Red, Mystic Green, Bluish Black, Magma Grey, Splendid Silver, and Arctic White. The dual-tone variants (like Eternal Blue with a Black Roof) really make the “king-size” styling pop.

Variants and Price
Available through the Maruti Suzuki Arena network, the Victoris range starts from approximately ₹10.50 Lakh and goes up to ₹19.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). This positions it as a more accessible flagship compared to the Grand Vitara sold through NEXA, offering a similar level of tech and presence.

Verdict
Overall, we really liked the new Victoris. It has the looks, the space, and a feature list (ADAS, 360 camera, ventilated seats) that makes it a very compelling package. Our only real gripe is the engine noise, which lacks the “premium” hush found in some rivals. However, if you want a rugged-looking, feature-rich SUV with the peace of mind of the Maruti Suzuki service network, the Victoris is a great package. We recommend it!
