Mahindra Auto Achieves Record Sales in March 2026

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.) has released its highly anticipated sales figures, revealing a robust performance across multiple vehicle categories. The company announced that its overall auto sales for the month of March 2026 stood at 99,969 vehicles. This impressive figure represents a strong growth of 21%, a total that includes export numbers. The total vehicle sales of 99,969 units encompasses SUVs, LCVs (<3.5T), 3-wheelers, and export volumes.

Domestic Passenger Vehicle and SUV Sales Breakdown

In the highly competitive Utility Vehicles segment, Mahindra demonstrated significant market strength. The company sold 60,272 vehicles in the domestic market during March 2026. This domestic sales figure marks a substantial growth of 25%. When factoring in international performance, overall Utility Vehicle sales reached 62,109 vehicles, including exports.

A closer look at the passenger vehicle sales summary shows that the “Cars + Vans” category recorded zero sales for both March and the year-to-date. Consequently, the total Passenger Vehicles sales mirror the Utility Vehicles figures exactly, at 60,272 units for March. It is also important to note that the above Utility Vehicle sales include sales made by the subsidiary company, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited.

Commercial Vehicles and Three-Wheelers Performance

The commercial sector also provided a strong boost to the company’s monthly performance. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles stood at 24,928, which translates to a growth of 11%.

Breaking down the commercial and three-wheeler segments further provides a clearer picture of domestic demand:

  • LCV < 2T: Sales for this category stood at 3,526 units in March, representing a 0% change compared to the previous year.
  • LCV 2 T – 3.5 T: This category saw strong demand with 21,402 units sold in March, achieving a 13% growth. This specific sales category includes the Bolero Maxx PUP HD 1.9 & HD 2.0.
  • 3 Wheelers (including electric 3Ws): This segment experienced the highest percentage growth for the month, selling 10,801 units and surging by 39%.

Sales within the LCV < 2T and 3 Wheelers categories include sales made by the subsidiary company, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited.

Financial Year 2026: Setting New All-Time Highs

Beyond the impressive monthly figures, the broader financial year context highlights sustained momentum. The financial year concluded with all-time high volumes for the automaker. Throughout the year, the company sold 6,60,276 SUVs. Additionally, they sold 2,89,597 LCVs (<3.5T). These figures delivered a robust year-over-year growth of 20% for SUVs and 13% for LCVs across both segments.

Looking at the year-to-date (YTD) numbers for other categories, the 3 Wheelers segment recorded a total of 1,12,003 units sold over the financial year, marking a 30% growth. Conversely, the YTD sales for the LCV < 2T segment saw a slight contraction, with 38,120 units sold, representing a 2% decline.

Leadership Perspective on the Growth

The executive leadership at Mahindra acknowledged the strong conclusion to the financial year. According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., the financial year ended on a very positive note. He stated that Mahindra clocking its highest-ever volumes in both the SUVs and LCVs (<3.5T) segments is a significant milestone for the company.

Gollagunta further summarized the monthly achievements, stating, “In March, we achieved SUV sales of 60,272 units, a growth of 25% and LCV <3.5T sales of 24,928 units, a growth of 11% YoY.”. He concluded by noting that total vehicle sales stood at 99,969 units, a 21% YoY growth.

Export Market Overview

While domestic sales drove the bulk of the volume, the export market provided additional data points for the month’s close. Total exports for March 2026 stood at 3,968 units. This represented a slight decline of 4% compared to March of the previous financial year. However, the year-to-date export performance remained positive.
