SIAM’s Free PUC Checkup to reduce vehicular pollution during Diwali
As the Diwali is round the corner, SIAM – the apex body of the automobile industry in the country –will be organising a two-day free pollution check-up for vehicles to ensure a cleaner air in Delhi and NCR.
This is in response to a call by Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India, to engage all stakeholders to check pollution levels in NCR prior to ongoing festival season, when the air quality level becomes extremely poor.
The drive will be organised across various service centres of automobile manufacturers on 16th and 17th October 2017. The primary focus of the drive is to ensure that there is a minimal impact of vehicular pollution during these critical days and was to make awareness to general public about keeping air pollution under control through regular vehicular checks and ensure a cleaner environment for everyone.
Every year during Diwali, the air quality gets worse due to toxic gases from fire crackers. As a pro-active measure from the automobile industry and with support from SIAM member companies, this initiative is expected to encourage vehicle users to ensuring proper maintenance of their vehicles.
