BSDU signs MoU With Automotive Skill Development Council

MoU will facilitate in addressing skill gap in automotive sector by bridging the gap between industry and academia

The School of Automotive Skills of the Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC). The MoU was signed by Mr. Mohanjit Singh Walia, Principal School of Automotive Skills, BSDU, Jaipur and Mr. Raman Sharma, CEO, ASDC at Automotive Skills Development Council in New Delhi. This MoU will facilitate the training of trainers, students and most importantly course development and the updation of the same as per the changes of technology in the automotive sector. This MoU will also facilitate industry tie-ups which will benefit the B.Voc students at BSDU in terms of internships and placements at leading companies of the automotive sector.

 

  • ASDC is the first skill sector council of India promoted by the Automotive Industry through SIAM, ACMA, and FADA. ASDC’s objective is to continually develop and upgrade Automotive Skills for Higher value additions (higher value addition through Skilling will facilitate capital creation, leading to more economic activity and consequent additional jobs.)
  • Making Skills aspirational and integrated with academic pathways
  • Honouring and celebrating the Skilling achievements

To be achieved through:

  • Complete commitment of the Industry (SIAM, ACMA and FADA) who are already contributing a lot in Skilling on their own
  • Ensuring credibility, reliability and robustness of the Skill Assessment process.
  • Skill Competitions

 

Speaking on the event, BSDU’s Mohanjit Singh Walia, who is the Director of the School of Automotive Skills said,

This is a momentous occasion for us as our students will benefit from the tie-up with ASDC as it will felicitate students studying in automotive sector. It will also help us to keep our training up-to-date and in-sync with industry trends.

Brig Pabla, Vice Chancellor BSDU said,

The curricula of all programs offered by BSDU is designed in consultation with the industry and the concerned sector skill councils. For programs offered in Automotive Skills, BSDU receives full support from ASDC. This MOU will further strengthen the cooperation between BSDU and ASDC and reduce the gap between industry and academia.

Commenting on the tie up, Mr. Raman Sharma, CEO, Automotive Skills Development Council, said,

We are delighted to partner with BDSU for this initiative. India is fast becoming a global hub for the Auto sector and with such tie ups, we are certain that we will get the right talent for the automotive sector. In this sense, acquiring a certain vocational skill is not an end in itself but the beginning of an aspirational career/journey which when integrated with vocational skills based Academic Pathways will facilitate realise a higher purpose and life’s calling, creating career pathways.
