Datsun to launch redi-GO 1.0L and redi-GO Automatic in June 2017
A report from ET Auto reveals that Datsun, which is in the umbrella of Nissan India is set to launch the much powerful variant of redi-GO with 1 litre engine. The upcoming 1 litre engine version of Datsun redi-GO is expected to be launched in June 2017 according to the report. Along with redi-GO 1L variant, Datsun will also launch the automatic (AMT) version of redi-GO in India.
The upcoming redi-GO 1L and AMT version will be introduced in the top ‘S‘ variant of the car. redi-GO hatchback was launched in year 2016 and it derives the platform and engine from Renault Kwid, which is currently one of the hot selling entry-level cars in India.
The upcoming powerful Datsun redi-GO will be powered by 1000cc engine that can churn out 68 PS of maximum power and 91Nm of torque which is similar to that you see in Renault Kwid 1L that comes with an option of either 5-speed manual gear box or an AMT Automatic. It is still not clear if Datsun will be bringing in the AMT dial rotatory gearbox as seen on Renault Kwid or with gear stick.
Datsun redi-GO is one of the most affordable entry-level hatchbacks in India. The current redi-GO base model is priced at INR 2.38 Lakhs. The 1.0L version of redi-GO is expected to be in the range of INR 3.85 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) and in the range of 4 lakhs for the AMT version.
Redi-GO was first launched in Indian market in July 2016. Datsun has launched a special sports edition of Redi-GO ( 2016 Olympic Medal winners Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu launched the rediGO Sport)
Nissan posted a healthy sales growth (21%) in December 2016.
