Italian superbike maker Ducati will collaborate with e-commerce players in India to sell its range of apparels and accessories. Ducati is trying to scale up the share of its non-automotive business here in India through theses collaborations.
The company currently sells its apparels and accessories such as jackets, shoes, biking gloves and helmet, among others, through its outlets. Ducati India Managing Director Sergi Canovas said e- commerce companies have proposed the plan to the company and the process of finalisation is underway.
“Now a days if you are not online you are not anywhere and in such a huge market like India, you need to make sure you reach everywhere so that’s what we are analyzing,”
Apparels and accessories in India currently contribute for a very little share in the company’s business and therefore it wants the share to match up to the same level as it is in other developed markets.
Canovas also revealed that at the beginning Ducati did not give much importance to the accessories and apparel business considering it’s not suitable for India, but two years back they started focusing on accessories and apparel business in in India .
“We made this correction two years ago and now we see the penetration of apparels and accessories to be very high in the years to come,” he added.
Italian superbike maker is rapidly expanding and is planning to enhance its product portfolio and sales network to tap the growing demand of superbikes in India. As part of thier growth plan they will be launching four new products this year and add new sales outlets in Chennai and Hyderabad.
Recently Ducati launched Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S in India at an starting price of Rs 15,99,000 and Rs 18,06,000 respectively. the company has a line up of 27 different bikes across seven different families ranging from 800 cc to 1.3 litres capacity
