Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released a report on automobile sales for the financial year 2014-2015. The export market for the scooters in the 90cc-120cc range saw in increase of 117.12% year-on-year with sales accounting for 1,89,240 automobile units when compared to 87,161 unit sales in the financial year 2013-2014.
Hero MotoCorp becomes the largest Scooter exporter in India
The Indian automobile company, Hero MotoCorp also saw a growth of 356.24% in its scooter exports with the company exporting 79,956 vehicle units in the financial year 2014-2015, as against to 17,525 vehicle units in the financial year 2013-2014. The unit sale figures shows that the company has surpassed Honda Motorcycles and Scooters (HMSI) in order to become India’s largest scooter exporter.
Not only this, HMSI saw a growth in scooter exports year-on-year with the company exporting 77,814 units in the financial year 2014-2015 as against to 51,932 units in the financial year 2013-2014, a growth of 49.84%. The result is Honda Motorcycles and Scooters (HMSI) is now the second largest scooter exporter in India.
Another automobile company TVS Motor has maintained a linear growth in scooter exports by exporting 15,570 vehicle units in the financial year 2014-2015, as against to 11,923 units of sales in the financial year 2013-2014.
The other highlights of the SIAM report include notable growth for Suzuki Motorcycles India and Yamaha Motors. Suzuki Motorcycles saw an exports rise from 699 units in the financial year 2013-2014 to 5712 units in the financial year 2014-2015. Where as, in the other news, Yamaha Motors saw scooter exports rise from 1,635 units in the financial year 2013 2014 to 6,271 units in the financial year 2014-2015.
