Speaking about Honda’s commitment to road safety, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said,
Truck drivers are the biggest road users and drive under challenging conditions and terrains. At Honda, we attach great importance to road safety. This is why, we conduct regular road safety training for our truck drivers across India. More than 5,000 drivers associated with Honda 2Wheelers India have taken our safe driving training so far through various education programme. Taking our commitment to make Indian roads safer, we are happy to educate over 350 drivers on National Safety Week 2018.
Honda’s safe driving session helped drivers understand how to tackle hazards on roads and reduce risk of accidents. Truck drivers were sensitised on how to drive safe in various conditions like night driving, fog and rainy season etc. Drivers were also made aware of importance of seat belts, how to use fire extinguishers, concept of speed limit, meaning of different road signs and ill-effects of drunken driving. The truck drivers were given correct truck maintenance tips by a truck OEM.
Honda also used the fun route to spread awareness of the serious topic. Truck drivers could be seen enjoying the two ‘nukkad nataks’ and a pantomime play on the topic of road safety. Drivers won surprize gifts for the best responses during a road safety quiz.
Celebrating excellence, Honda 2Wheelers India rewarded the Top 10 safe drivers of 2017-18.
A special session on first aid was also undertaken by a qualified doctor.
