Simple Arrive Spied Testing For The First Time: Everything You Need To Know

Bengaluru-based startup Simple has recently expanded its electric vehicle portfolio by launching the updated OneS and One models. The company is not stopping there, as the brand is testing its family-centric scooter that could be launched in the months to come. We have also learnt that this scooter will be named ‘Arrive’.

This new testing phase highlights a strategic shift for the brand as it targets a broader commuter demographic looking for practicality over outright sportiness.

A Shift to Conventional Design

The design of the Arrive hints at a departure from the One’s sharp and angular bodywork. In order to appeal to a wider audience, the Simple Arrive gets a more conventional design compared to the One. The Arrive could come with a more conventional design to adhere to its family-centric brief.

Spy shots reveal several interesting exterior details. At the front, the headlight is mounted on the apron along with a short wind deflector above it. In contrast, the tail-light seems to be a thin strip, similar to the TVS Orbiter and Ather Rizta.

Hardware and Practical Features

The differences between the One range and the Arrive are quite apparent, with the latter getting twin shock absorbers, a flat single-piece seat, a centre-stand and a shroud on the right side of the motor.

Practicality is a major focus for this upcoming commuter. The scooter comes with a single-piece seat and a centre stand. For suspension and braking duties, it gets twin shock absorbers and a drum brake at the rear. To improve rider convenience, the scooter also gets a storage cubby and a TFT dash.

Battery and Powertrain Expectations

Currently, Simple’s portfolio comprises of the One and One S, with the former coming with an option a larger 5kWh battery pack and a 4.5kWh pack, the latter gets a smaller 3.7kWh battery pack.

Because the scooter is still in its testing phase, specific performance numbers have not been confirmed. It remains to be seen if Simple incorporates either one of these battery packs for their family-scooter or debuts an all-new battery pack.

Market Positioning and Direct Rivals

The shift toward a traditional scooter aesthetic positions the new Simple model right in the middle of a fiercely competitive segment. It is in line with conventional, family-centric EVs that the brand aims to take on, namely the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. When it eventually hits the showroom floors, the Simple Arrive could rival Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.
