Committed to spread road safety awareness to riders and drivers of Bengaluru, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Bengaluru Traffic Police celebrated 3rd anniversary of its Safety Driving Education Centre (SDEC) in the august presence of Sri. Sachin Ghorpade (IPS) – Deputy Commissioner of Police – Bengaluru Traffic Police (North division), Sri. Sharanappa. G. KSPS – Assistant Commissioner of Police & Principal Traffic Training and Road Safety Institute- Bengaluru along with other dignitaries from Traffic Training and Road Safety Institute and state’s transport department.
In October 2020, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) in association with Bengaluru Traffic Police inaugurated their first Safety Driving Education Centre (SDEC) of Karnataka at Traffic Training and Road Safety Institute (TTRSI), Thanisandra to initiate a unique ‘Road Safety Training’ exclusively for all two-wheeler & four-wheeler traffic rule violators.
Driving road safety awareness amongst the riders and drivers of the city, HMSI announced that through its daily trainings, it has educated nearly 10,000 traffic rule violators of the city since its inception. In addition to this, HMSI’s safety instructors at Bengaluru SDEC have spread road safety awareness to more than 14,000 people of the city digitally and have also educated over 10,000 ASI in police and special batch training.
About HMSI’s road safety training at Safety Driving Education Center at Bengaluru
HMSI’s 2-hours free-of-cost mandatory training educates traffic rule violators through theory session on road rules & regulations, road signs & markings, driver’s duties on road, riding gear & posture explanation and safe riding etiquettes. This is followed by a practical training on Honda’s virtual road safety simulator to increase participants risk prediction ability on roads.

Globally, Honda places the utmost priority on road safety. As announced in April 2021, “Honda will strive for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050”.
One critical aspect of achieving this goal is inculcating a positive mindset towards road safety in our children by the year 2030 and continuing to educate them thereafter. Our aim is to encourage in children the value of not only caring for their own lives but also valuing the lives of others. We want them to understand that safe riding is cool and trendy and must not be avoided at any cost. To accomplish this vision, we are continuously identifying and implementing impactful road safety initiatives in schools and colleges across India.
These Road Safety awareness programs are interactive and engaging, catering to a wide range of age groups, from children to youth and are conducted in schools, colleges, government institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Through activities such as interactive games, role-playing, virtual experiences, and more, our goal is to raise awareness and encourage responsible road behavior among all road users. This awareness initiative has already reached over 5.7 million Indians. Our team of skilled safety instructors conducts daily programs at our 10 adopted traffic training parks (TTP) across India and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers (SDEC).
