Hyundai Motor India Launches Dedicated Prime Taxi Range for Commercial Mobility

In a strategic move to address the growing needs of fleet operators and taxi entrepreneurs, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) officially entered the commercial mobility segment on December 30, 2025. The company introduced two dedicated models under the new Prime Taxi Range: the Prime HB (hatchback) and the Prime SD (sedan).

Built on the proven foundations of popular passenger models—the Prime HB is derived from the Grand i10 NIOS, while the Prime SD is based on the Aura—these vehicles are engineered for high uptime and low operating costs.

Performance and Operational Efficiency

Both models in the Prime range are powered by Hyundai’s reliable 1.2L Kappa 4-cylinder engine, which is available in both Petrol and company-fitted CNG configurations. This setup is designed to maximize earning potential for drivers by offering industry-leading efficiency:

  • Prime SD (Sedan): Delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.40 km/kg on CNG.
  • Prime HB (Hatchback): Offers a fuel economy of 27.32 km/kg on CNG.

Hyundai estimates the maintenance cost for these vehicles to be as low as 47 paise per km, a critical factor for managing profit margins in competitive markets.

Pricing and Booking Details

The Hyundai Prime range is positioned competitively to attract individual taxi operators and large-scale fleet owners across India.

ModelStarting Ex-Showroom Price
Prime HB (Hatchback)₹5,99,900
Prime SD (Sedan)₹6,89,900

Bookings are now open across all Hyundai dealerships in India with a nominal booking amount of ₹5,000. To ease the acquisition process, flexible finance options are available with repayment tenures extending up to 72 months.

Safety and Comfort Features

Unlike standard entry-level commercial vehicles, the Hyundai Prime range includes a host of safety and convenience features to ensure passenger comfort and driver security:

  • Standard Safety: Six airbags, 3-point seatbelts, rear parking sensors, and an emergency stop signal.
  • Compliance: A company-fitted Speed Limiting Function (SLF) capped at 80 km/h.
  • Convenience: Rear AC vents, front and rear power windows, steering-mounted audio controls, and a front-row Type-C fast USB charger.
  • Exclusive HB Features: Keyless entry and rear adjustable headrests.

Operators can further customize their vehicles with optional accessories, including a 22.96 cm (9-inch) infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) featuring four panic buttons.

Service and Warranty Support

To minimize vehicle downtime, HMIL provides a specialized Fleet Care Advisor (FCA) at dealerships to attend specifically to commercial customers. Peace of mind is further secured by:

  • Extended Warranty: Specially designed coverage for the 4th and 5th year or up to 1,80,000 km.
  • Color Options: Available in Atlas White, Typhoon Silver, and Abyss Black.
