Maruti hikes Vitara Brezza price by 20K and Baleno by 10K
India’s top selling car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has now hiked prices of their popular car models Maruti Vitara Brezza and Baleno. Both Vitara Brezza and Baleno comes under premiere range. While the price of Vitara Brezza has been increased by Rs 20,000 the Baleno hatchback’s price too has been hiked by Rs 10,000.
Not only Vitara Brezza and Baleno, the company has also increased the price of select models by INR 1,500 to INR 5,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The price hike news comes at a time when most consumers are preparing to buy cars in the upcoming festive season.
Positive sales in the month of July, long waiting time has made Maruti Suzuki to hike prices across its range.
Commenting on the price hike, Maruti Suzuki’s spokesperson said:
segment-wise demand, forex movements and its strategic objectives have resulted in the decision to revise the pricing.
Since its launch, both Vitara Brezza and the Baleno have been doing well in their respective segments. Maruti Baleno, which is available only in company’s exclusive showroom – NEXA has been sold over 71,230 units since October. Since its launch in March, over 27,261 units of Maruti Vitara Brezza have been sold. Both these models comes with a waiting period of more than 6 months.
Maruti Suzuki made a comeback in sales in July which also happens to be the best ever month with highest sales figure. Maruti Suzuki sold 125,778 units in July 2016 and posted a growth of 13.9% when compared to July 2015 sales. Maruti Suzuki’s previous highest domestic monthly sales was 121,063 units which was registered in October 2015.
The increase in sales in July 2016 means Maruti Suzuki has ramped up its production and increased despatches to dealers across India to make up for the loss of over 50,000 units in June 2016 due to production stoppage at its Gurgaon and Manesar plants.
