This festive season we have witnessed a number of launches from the Indian automotive industry. We want more and more before its over and Maruti is gearing up to launch its Ignis mini crossover which was showcased to us at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year. The mini crossover from Maruti has been spied in India which looks like a production ready model.
Maruti Ignis gets a pretty looking design with chrome outlined front grille and fog lamps. Rear end gets a wedged design which gives it a mini SUV look. It also gets rear wipers and surprisingly comes with a HYBRID badge on it. Ignis also gets black alloy wheels which look neat. It isn’t hard to notice the touchscreen infotainment system on the inside which is mounted on a vertically bifurcated dual tone dashboard. Ignis also gets a new steering wheel with steering mounted controls. Also Read: Top 5 upcoming cars in India.
New Maruti Ignis will be powered by the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines. The petrol variant will be available with an optional automatic transmission in the form of a CVT (Continuously Varying Transmission) rather than AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). Maruti Ignis coming with CVT transmission will also have a Hybrid badge on it(as seen in the pictures). A 5-speed manual transmission will also be available on the new Maruti Ignis.
Ignis will be the third car which will be put on display and sold at Maruti’s NEXA showroom which tell us this car will get premium positining and a rich feature list. Mahindra’s KUV 100 will be this cars’s main rival in the mini crossover segment. Its expected to be priced below Maruti Vitara Brezza. Also Read : top 6 compact sedans to buy in 2016
