MG Motors in association with SAIC Motor Corporation has officially announced their plan to enter the much happening Indian market. MG and SAIC will be having a fully-owned car manufacturing facility in the country. The first car roll-out from MG Motors is expected in the year 2019.
MG Motors’ MG3 premium hatchback might be the very first model to come out from the brand. The upcoming MG Motors MG3 hatchback will take on competition like Baleno from Maruti Suzuki and Elite i20 from Hyundai. The upcoming premium cars from MG motors shall also give tough competition to Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
India is reporting a very healthy sales in the premium and compact SUV segment. The MG3 premium hatchback shall impact on Indian auto industry. While the car manufacturing is expected in the country, the design and development will be happening at the car maker’s European facility. The Chineese company, SAIC has purchased the Halol production plant in Gujarat from General Motors which recently announced its exit from Indian domestic market . These facilities in India will be used for manufacturing of their cars.
Talking about the design of the car, MG Motors’ MG3 gets a pretty interesting design. At the front the car gets sharp headlamps that are connected by a very sleek black grille. The front bumper of MG3 hatchback is muscular looking and gets L shaped LED daytime running lights that are positioned at both ends.
When it comes to side profile of the car, the MG3 hatchback would be sporting 16-inch alloy wheels on the top-end trim. The MG3 base trims will be getting 14-inch as well as 15-inch wheel options.
The petrol engine (1.5 litre) of MG3 premium hatchback is capable of churning out 106 PS of peak power and 137 Nm of peak torque. The interiors of MG3 hatchback will be of up-market. The Transmission options of MG3 includes a Five-speed manual gearbox. There will be also an option for automatic transmission. The premium hatchback is capable of running at a top speed of 108 kmph
