2026 Tata Tiago and Tiago.ev Launch on May 28th: What to Expect

Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce its latest models to the Indian market, with the new Tata Tiago and Tiago.ev scheduled to launch on May 28, 2026. These highly anticipated models represent the company’s entry-level offerings in both the petrol and electric vehicle segments. Engineered primarily for city driving, the updated hatchbacks bring modern styling and a refreshed set of features.

Updated and Sporty Exterior Design

The newest iteration of the petrol Tata Tiago has been given a sharper and significantly more contemporary look compared to the outgoing model. Tata has implemented multiple stylistic changes to enhance its overall road presence:

  • Front Fascia: At the front of the vehicle, a slim gloss-black panel now connects the headlamps. This specific design choice gives the hatchback a noticeably wider stance.
  • Bumper Revisions: The redesigned front bumper now incorporates larger blacked-out sections. Additionally, vertical elements that house the fog lamps contribute to giving the car a sportier appearance.
  • Premium Touches: The inclusion of swept-back headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, and smooth body panels seamlessly add to the vehicle’s premium feel.
  • Rear Profile: At the rear, the updated Tiago boasts a full-width faux-light panel that connects the taillamps, combined with triple vertical light signatures. A revised rear bumper and a sculpted tailgate finish off the hatchback with a clean, modern look.

Unique Styling for the Tiago.ev

While the Tiago.ev retains the exact same silhouette as its internal combustion engine counterpart, it incorporates distinct electric-specific details to set it apart.

  • Aerodynamic Enhancements: The front grille on the EV variant is completely closed-off to promote better aerodynamics.
  • Distinct Paint and Accents: It features a vertically patterned lower bumper and an exclusive mint green paint option, accented with a black roof to make the vehicle visually distinct.
  • Electric Identity: Moving to the rear, the electric identity is highlighted by subtle EV badging and a simplified bumper.

Revamped Interiors and Modern Features

While Tata Motors has yet to officially reveal the interior cabin, a major update is highly expected for both variations.

  • Dashboard and Displays: Both the new Tiago and the Tiago.ev are likely to feature completely redesigned dashboards. The infotainment experience is expected to be upgraded with larger touchscreens, alongside updated instrument clusters for the driver.
  • Upholstery: Fresh upholstery is anticipated across the entire cabin.
  • Premium Ambience: Overall, the interiors are expected to feel considerably more modern and premium when compared to the outgoing models currently on the market.

Powertrains, Performance, and Battery Specifications

The upcoming launch will continue to provide versatile options for buyers, whether they prefer traditional fuel, CNG, or an all-electric drivetrain.

Petrol and CNG Variants

The standard petrol Tiago will carry over the reliable 1.2-litre Revotron engine. This engine is capable of producing 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque. For those seeking an alternative fuel option, a CNG variant producing 75.5PS and 96.5Nm will also be available. To ensure maximum practicality, the CNG version utilizes dual cylinders, which effectively frees up essential boot space. Transmission choices for these models include either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

Electric (EV) Variants

Currently, the outgoing Tiago.ev is offered with either a 19.2kWh or a 24kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of 223km to 293km. The upcoming new Tiago.ev may bring updated battery options to the table. Furthermore, Tata could potentially introduce a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, similar to what is currently offered with the Punch.ev.

Expected Price and Launch Details

Consumers should expect the new Tiago to come with a slightly higher price tag than the current iteration. For context, the existing petrol models of the Tiago are priced ranging from Rs 4,59,990 to Rs 6,82,990. The current Tiago.ev carries an ex-showroom price tag between Rs 7,99,000 and Rs 11,14,000. The official launch for both the updated petrol and EV models is confirmed for May 28, 2026.
