New Yamaha Tracer 700 Sport-Tourer based on MT-07 revealed

In recent times, the motoring industry is witnessing good growth of tourers in motorcycles. Joining this race, Yamaha has now unveiled a new product – the Tracer 700 Sport-Tourer which is based on the MT-07 naked motorcycle.

Yamaha Tracer 700 Styling and Design:

The all new Yamaha Tracer 700 is essentially based on same frame as that of the MT-07, but there will be certain tweaks which makes it comfortable long distance tourer. The swingarm in the new Yamaha Tracer 700 has been extended by a length of 50mm, which increases the wheelbase to 1450mm as opposed to 1,400mm of the MT-07.

There will be also minor updates in the Suspension system in order to gobble up long distances with less fatigue. The front forks of the motorcycle would be getting a longer travel of 140mm. The fuel tank capacity of the Tracer 700 will be 3 litres more than that of MT-07’s 14 litre tank. With the 17-litre fuel tank, the Tracer 700 becomes ideal motorcycle for touring. The new Yamaha Trace 700 would also be getting twin headlamps and adjustable windscreen with hand guards. These elements gives a very different visual appeal for the motorcycle. The bike will be also getting panniers and rear box as accessories.

When it comes to the dimensions, the motorcycle’s seat height is of comfortable 835mm where as the ground clearance of the motorcycle is 140mm. With so much of extra addition like bikini faring, Tracer 700 manages to keep the weight in control at 196 kgs.

New Yamaha Tracer 700 Engine

The engine of new Yamaha Tracer 700 is inherited from the MT-07 motorcycle. The Tracer is powered by a 689cc parallel-twin, fuel injection engine which can churn out a maximum power of 74 bhp at 9,000rpm and produces 68Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The brakes are amazing too, the Braking power is offered by 282mm dual discs up front and a single 245mm disc at the rear. There will be a anti-lock braking system (ABS) option too.

So, What is the competition for new Yamaha Tracer 700? This new Yamaha Tracer 700 will take on its rivals like Kawasaki Versys 650, Benelli 600GT and also the forthcoming Benelli Trek 502.

When is Yamaha Tracer 700 launching in India

There has been no official confirmation from Yamaha with regards to the Tracer 700 launch in India. We think the motorcycle should be out by the next year (2017).

Yamaha Tracer 700 Price

The Yamaha Tracer 700 which is currently launched in Europe has been priced at £6,299. When the bike is launched in India, the Yamaha Tracer 700 would be priced at INR 8 lakhs.
