“the Nissan Kicks is due for launch this year. He also said that the company is also planning a new product under the Datsun brand and it will be launched before the introduction of the Kicks. Nissan aims to establish both the brands in the country”.

The Nissan Kicks already has a good presence in the global markets which is  based on the V platform. The India-spec Kicks will get the  Renault Duster’s B0 platform to keep the costs down . Just like the Renault Captur and  Nissan Terrano who share the same platform .

Powertrain

The India-spec Nissan Kicks will be powered by the existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines which is used in the Renault Captur . The 1.5-litre petrol unit puts out 104bhp and 142Nm of peak  torque while the diesel engine makes about 108bhp and 240Nm of torque . The petrol engine is mated  to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the diesel engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission .

Globally, the Nissan Kicks comes with all-wheel-drive system, but the India-spec model all-wheel-drive option may not be available  to keep the price in check .

Design

The Nissan Kicks comes with the company’s signature crossover design theme which gives it a distinctive look. The Kicks has Nissan’s V-Motion grille up front and funky design elements to make the crossover look attractive . All together  the Nissan Kicks looks unique and fresh.

The utility vehicle segment in India is growing rapidly from past few years.  Nissan was not in the game for past few years now with the new crossover for India it is a serious come back for Nissan . The new Nissan Kicks will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, Honda BR-V and the Renault Captur. Expect the Nissan Kicks to be priced at Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 14.5 lakh ex-showroom.
