Royal Enfield Sets Sight on Tirupati for Major Greenfield Manufacturing Expansion
Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment (250cc-750cc), is significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint. The company has announced plans to secure a land parcel for a state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility located in Tada, Tirupati, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This strategic move is designed to bolster production capacity and support the brand’s continuous global and domestic growth.
A Massive ₹2,500 Crore Investment Plan
To bring this new facility to life, Royal Enfield plans to invest an estimated ₹2,500 crores in the greenfield expansion. Rather than building the entire facility at once, the development will be executed in a phased manner. This phased approach is subject to approval by the company’s board and will be carefully calibrated to match future consumer demand and overall market conditions. By evaluating options for future projects as part of its long-term growth trajectory, the company ensures that its infrastructure scales efficiently with its sales.

Addressing High Demand and Production Capacity
The primary driver behind this monumental investment is the brand’s rapidly growing sales figures and production utilization. Currently, Royal Enfield boasts a manufacturing capacity of approximately 14.6 lakh motorcycles per year. However, this existing capacity is already running close to full utilization.
The brand’s sales performance underscores this need for expansion. In the 2026 financial year, Royal Enfield successfully delivered over 1.2 million motorcycles, marking its second consecutive year of crossing the one-million unit milestone. To meet this surging demand, the company had previously announced a ₹958 crore investment in February 2026 focused on capacity expansion in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu. This earlier investment was projected to push the company’s total production capacity to 20 lakh units.
According to B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, the company currently operates four world-class manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu, aiming for a projected capacity of 2 million units annually. The newly proposed investment in Andhra Pradesh is intended to augment this capacity even further, providing the necessary impetus for Royal Enfield’s next phase of growth.
Strengthening Ties with Andhra Pradesh
The selection of Tada, Tirupati, is not Royal Enfield’s first foray into Andhra Pradesh. The company has already established a strong operational foundation within the state. Currently, Royal Enfield operates more than 100 retail and service outlets across Andhra Pradesh.
This existing network has already created more than 1,200 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing significantly to the local industrial and economic landscape. The new greenfield facility is expected to deepen this partnership with the state government, taking advantage of the region’s immense potential while driving further economic development.
A Truly Global Indian Brand
While expanding heavily in India, Royal Enfield’s operations remain vast and globally integrated. The company operates through a network of more than 3,200 stores spanning India and over 80 countries worldwide.
Beyond its primary Indian manufacturing hubs, the company operates seven modern Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly facilities globally. These international assembly plants are located in Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Argentina, Colombia, and two separate facilities in Brazil. Furthermore, the brand’s research and development efforts are anchored by two world-class technical centres situated in Chennai, India, and Bruntingthorpe, in the UK.
The company’s commitment to quality and brand strength continues to earn global recognition. In the Brand Finance Automotive Industry 2026 report, Royal Enfield was ranked as the third strongest automobile brand in the world. Additionally, the manufacturer secured the highest ranking in two-wheeler initial quality in the 2025 J.D. Power India study and took the top position in the FADA Dealer Satisfaction Survey.
