Yamaha 125cc bike – Nozza Grande to be launched in India
Indian subsidiary of Japanese 2-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is all set to introduce a new model in India. The news was confirmed by BikeWale and Motorbeam after they received the invitation for the launch event. The name of the new 125cc Yamaha model has not been specified by the firm yet and this could be dubbed as Nozza Grande 125 as per some reports. In the invitation which Yamaha sent out, it contained a photo of the scooter’s front fascia, which led to speculations that this 2 wheeler might be called as Nozza Grande.
According to reports, the test mules of the bike were caught spying on Indian roads a few months back and it is similar to the one presented in the invite. Yamaha, which initially launched only bikes in the country, said in a statement that it would focus on launching scooters in India.
The demand for 2 wheelers, particularly scooters, has seen a great raise in the Indian market and models such as Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter and Hero Pleasure. In the past, Yamaha has launched 110cc engine powered scooters like Yamaha Ray, Yamaha Alpha and Yamaha Ray-Z. Understanding the competition, the firm is now set to launch the 125cc bike in competition with the Popular Honda Activa 125.
Yamaha’s Nozza Grande 125 has performed well in other Asian markets that includes Vietnam. Fuel-injected variants of Nozza Grande are sold in many markets but there are reports that Indian market is likely to get the carburetted version and also that could be cost-effective.
Few sources have also claimed that the design of this 125 cc scooter by Yamaha can be changed for the Indian market and it might also be launched with a new name. Pricing is going to play an important role in the launch of Nozza Grande and it is likely to be in between Vespa LX 125 and Honda Activa 125.
