Yamaha India has launched a new super-bike in India. In December last year, the company had plans to bring Yamaha R1 to India. The bike named Yamaha R1 and Yamaha R1M has been launched together on a single stage as you can see in in the above picture. The two bikes YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M have been equipped with twin LED headlamps at the front.
Yamaha R1 and Yamaha R1M launched in India
Both Yamaha R1M and Yamaha R1 models are powered by 998cc engine which is 4-stroke and liquid-cooled. According to the company – Yamaha, these superbikes has titanium connecting rods and also forged aluminum pistons to derive power from its powerful engines. Yamaha YZF-R1 and Yamaha YZF-R1M are also equipped with a side mounted 4-into-1 exhaust system.
One primary difference between Yamaha R1 and Yamaha R1M is their kerb weight. The kerb weight of Yamaha YZF-R1 is 199kg and the Yamaha YZF-R1M weighs 200kg. Also Yamaha R1’s seat height is lower at 855mm, but for the Yamaha R1M it is taller by 5mm.
Talking about the suspensions of the bikes – Yamaha YZF-R1M comes with a Ohlins racing suspension in the front, which adapts to riding conditions, which in turn enhances the stability during the time of braking by reducing the fork diving. Yamaha R1M is as well equipped with data-logging function that records and produces lap timings, speed, throttle position, GPS tracking, lean angle of the bike and more. Other interesting features of Yamaha R1M include the slide control, traction control, launch control and quick shifter function.
