Tata Motors, India’s top automobile manufacturer, has launched its first Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF), Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and has the capacity to scrap 15,000 vehicles per annum.

The Importance of Re.Wi.Re

Re.Wi.Re is a major step towards sustainable mobility and a commitment by Tata Motors to promote eco-friendly vehicle scrapping in India. The facility follows world-class, eco-friendly processes for the safe and sustainable dismantling of end-of-life vehicles. It is developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner, Ganganagar Vaahan Udyog Pvt. Ltd., and is equipped to scrap end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands.

National Vehicle Scrappage Policy

The launch of Re.Wi.Re coincides with the introduction of the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy in India. The policy aims to create an ecosystem for phasing out unfit and polluting vehicles and replacing them with greener and more fuel-efficient vehicles. Shri Nitin Gadkari congratulated Tata Motors for setting up this quality facility that is at par with global standards and working towards positioning India as a vehicle scrapping hub for the entire South Asian region.

A New Beginning in Responsible Scrapping

According to Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, the launch of Re.Wi.Re heralds a new beginning in responsible scrapping of end-of-life vehicles. With globally benchmarked and optimized recycling processes, Tata Motors intends to yield maximum value from the scrap for future use and minimize waste for the overall betterment. The company appreciates the visionary efforts of Shri Gadkari in enabling the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy and plans to set up Re.Wi.Re facilities across the country in collaboration with their partners.

Facility Features

The Re.Wi.Re facility is designed to dismantle end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands and ensures de-pollutioning. It is fully digitalized for hassle-free, paperless operations and has dedicated stations for the safe dismantling of components such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases. The vehicles go through a stringent documentation and dismantling process, curated individually for passenger and commercial vehicle requirements.

Tata Motors’ launch of Re.Wi.Re is a significant move towards sustainable mobility and eco-friendly vehicle scrapping in India. The facility follows world-class, eco-friendly processes for the safe and sustainable dismantling of end-of-life vehicles, and the company intends to set up more such facilities across the country. The launch coincides with the introduction of the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy in India and is a step towards creating a circular economy that promotes greener and more fuel-efficient vehicles.
