Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has reached a significant milestone by achieving 200,000 cumulative units exported from India. This achievement highlights the company’s strong manufacturing capabilities and its dedication to delivering high-quality products to a global customer base.

According to Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., this milestone is a testament to the global recognition of India-made cars. He also stated that exports are a key part of HCIL’s business strategy and that the company remains committed to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Honda Cars Exports Market

The highly popular Honda City and the versatile Honda Elevate have been the primary drivers of this growth, together accounting for 78% of the total export volume. The remaining 22% of the exports include a diverse range of models such as the Brio, Amaze, Jazz, BR-V, Mobilio, City e:HEV, Accord, and CR-V. Notably, the Honda Elevate is exported to Japan under the name WR-V.

Over the years, HCIL has exported vehicles to 33 countries. The top export markets by share are Japan at 30%, followed by South Africa and SADC countries at 26%. Mexico and Turkey accounted for 19% and 16% respectively, with the remaining 9% going to the Middle East, SAARC region, Caribbean, and South America.

The company’s export journey began with a focus on neighboring markets. The first 50,000 units were exported to SAARC countries, South Africa, and SADC countries by 2021. The next 50,000 units were exported in 2.5 years, expanding to Left Hand Drive markets like the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey. The most recent 100,000 units were exported in just two years, fueled by the demand for the Elevate in new markets such as Japan, South America, and Caribbean nations.
