Honda India Issues Voluntary Recall for CBR650R and CB1000 Hornet SP

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a proactive, voluntary market recall campaign for two of its premium motorcycles: the CBR650R and the CB1000 Hornet SP. This global market action is intended to reinforce customer trust and ensure a high-quality ownership experience by addressing specific technical concerns.

CBR650R: Addressing Turn Signal Wiring Concerns

HMSI has identified a potential issue in certain CBR650R units regarding the turn signal system.

  • The Issue: A specific wiring part may rub against a metal component. Continuous vibration over time could cause a short circuit, leading to a malfunction in some lighting functions.
  • Safety Compliance: Malfunctioning lights may fail to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Affected Units: Motorcycles manufactured between 16 December 2024 and 04 May 2025 may be impacted.

CB1000 Hornet SP: Managing Oil Consumption

For the CB1000 Hornet SP, the recall focuses on engine performance related to oil levels.

  • The Issue: Part-related conditions in some vehicles may lead to varying oil consumption.
  • Potential Risk: If oil levels are not monitored regularly, changes in oil pressure could disrupt normal engine operation.
  • Affected Units: Units manufactured between 30 September 2024 and 22 August 2025 fall under this campaign.

How to Check if Your Motorcycle is Affected

Honda is taking proactive steps to notify owners, but customers are encouraged to verify their status independently.

  1. VIN Check: Visit the official Honda website (honda2wheelersindia.com) and enter your unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to check eligibility.
  2. Proactive Notification: HMSI is reaching out to affected customers via call, email, and SMS starting today.
  3. Dealership Visit: * CBR650R owners should visit their nearest BigWing dealership.
    • CB1000 Hornet SP owners should visit their nearest BigWing Topline dealership.

Free Inspection and Replacement

As a precautionary measure, Honda will inspect all affected motorcycles and replace necessary parts free of cost, regardless of the vehicle’s current warranty status. To ensure a smooth experience and avoid wait times, customers are requested to book service appointments in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this recall mandatory for all CBR650R and CB1000 Hornet SP owners? The recall is voluntary but highly recommended for motorcycles manufactured within the specified dates to ensure they meet regulatory and performance standards.

Will I have to pay for the repairs? No. All inspections and necessary part replacements related to this campaign are provided free of cost.

My bike is out of warranty. Can I still get the fix? Yes. Honda will honor the free replacement and inspection even if the vehicle’s warranty has expired.

How do I find my VIN? Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique 17-digit code typically found on your vehicle’s registration documents or stamped on the motorcycle’s frame near the steering head.
