Hyundai leapfrogs in customer safety by standardizing 3-point seatbelt & safety reminder for all seats across lineup

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s first smart mobility solutions provider and largest exporter since inception, today announced the standardization of 3-point seatbelt and seat belt reminder for all seats across its entire model lineup.

Commenting on the same, Mr. Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India said, 

“Customer safety is our utmost priority and we have been the forerunners in standardization of safety features. At Hyundai, we are committed to consistently elevate the safety standards of our product line-up and thus, in-sync with Indian Government’s direction, we have upgraded our full range model line-up with 3-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder for all seats as standard offering. We firmly believe that Safety feature standardization will offer superior protection for our customers.”


Key safety enhancement initiatives taken in 2023:

  • Airbags standardization:

o   In addition to the Hyundai TUCSON & Hyundai KONA, the standardization of 6 airbags was extended to CRETA, ALCAZAR & IONIQ 5.  Also, Hyundai VENUE was upgraded with 4 Airbags as standard on major volume variants.

o   The Grand i10 NIOS & AURA were also offered with First-in-Segment 4 Airbags as standard.

o   The all-new Hyundai VERNA redefined safety benchmarks in the segment with 6 Airbags as standard

  • Reinforced Active Safety: 

o   CRETA & ALCAZAR were also upgraded with a host of standard active & passive safety features including Electronic Stability Control [ESC], Vehicle Stability Management [VSM], Hill-start Assist Control [HAC], Rear Disc Brakes to name a few.

  • Advanced Safety Technology (ADAS):

o   The application of Hyundai Smart Sense Level-2 ADAS Features has been extended from one model in 2022 (TUCSON) to three models (TUCSON, IONIQ5 and the all-new Hyundai VERNA) currently. It will be further expanded to other popular models going ahead.

  • Hyundai Motor India has been a leader in terms of offering standard safety features such as 6 airbags across multiple SUV/sedan models.
  • All Hyundai models will now be offered with 3-point seat belt and seat belt reminder for all seats as standard.
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) & Hill Assist Control (HAC) will also be available as standard on VENUE and above models, including N Line range (i20 and VENUE)
