Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has officially launched the Next Gen Tiago, aimed at redefining the traditional hatchback segment with updated styling, premium interiors, and segment-first safety technologies. Building on a customer base of over 700,000, the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version of the Next Gen Tiago is available across Petrol and iCNG powertrains, with pricing starting at Rs 4.69 lakh.
According to Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., the new model represents a complete reinvention rather than a minor evolution, focusing on the democratization of premium automotive features for Indian families.
Powertrain and Specifications
The Next Gen Tiago continues to offer a broad range of powertrain and transmission options, engineered for distinct driving preferences. Both the petrol and iCNG versions utilize the 1.2L NA Revotron engine.
- Petrol Specifications: The 1199 cc, 3-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power of 86 PS at 6000 RPM and peak torque of 113 Nm at 3300 RPM. It is available with both a 5-speed Manual Transmission (MT) and an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
- iCNG Specifications: In CNG mode, the same engine generates 75.5 PS at 6000 RPM and 96.5 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM. The iCNG variant is offered with both a 5-speed MT and India’s first CNG AMT.

- Twin-Cylinder Technology: The CNG variant utilizes a dual-cylinder setup (60L total water capacity) placed below the luggage area, ensuring uncompromised boot space.

- Safety Integration: The iCNG system features thermal incident protection, automatic leak detection, and a micro switch that cuts off the CNG supply if a door is opened.
