Renault showcases Renault Kwid in India
A near production ready car has been showcased by Renault. It is an entry-level, low cost compact car by Renault dubbed as Renault Kwid. Renault Kwid was unveiled by the company’s CEO, Mr Carlos Ghosn in a global launch event.
The car is expected to be launched in the 2nd half of 2015 – you can expect the car to be somewhere between 3 to 4 lakhs as it is a compact car. Bringing Renault Kwid is a key move by the company as it is targeting audience of the hugely popular entry level car segment and wants to take on the place of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Santro, Datsun Go and other similar cars.
The French automobile manufacturing company,Renaultm by their market research would have known by now it is difficult to take on popular strong car brands in India like Maruti and Hyundai because of its huge presence and network across India. With this information in mind Renault is trying to give its best in terms of design and is building an irresistible car .
Features of Renault Kwid
Talking in terms of the features of the car, Renault Kwid has a pretty high bonnet, a very high waistline as well as increased ground clearance (about 180mm). The detailing of the car in the front is original Renault style, one could also observe some of the Duster related design language.
The bumper of Renault Kwid protrudes far out from the grille. Just like in Renault Duster the Kwid has squared off bumpers. Kwid is based on Renault’s CMFA architecture, the car is expected to provide good amount of space, despite by being measured 3.6 meters.
The dashboard of Renault Kwid appears to be bit old fashioned however the interiors of Kwid matches everything you really need in a modern day car. The instrument panel is digital and also comes with a 6 inch touch screen – a good weight on car’s infotainment system.
The engine of Kwid is going to feature twin-cams, 4 valves per cylinder. Kwid is expected to deliver best efficiency and power. Kwid shall also bring the option of an automated manual transmission (AMT), trying to emerge as a tough competitor for the all new Maruti Suzuki AMT-fitted Alto K10.
