Introduction

In one word, I would call the Scram 411 – The lighter version of Himalayan – Himalayan Lite from Royal Enfield. The Royal Enfield Scram 411 too features a tall big spoked wheels in the front just like Himalayan. The Scram 411 gets a very funky graphics work on its side panel and looks a lot small by size. When it comes to mechanicals, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 is powered by same capacity engine as that of Himalayan with more refinement. So how good is the overall performance, design, feel, ride, handling, practicality of this bike? Let us break it down in this detailed review of Scram 411.

First Impressions

The Royal Enfield team in Bengaluru handed over to us the brand new media unit of Royal Enfield Scram 411 in White Flame color option. The Red and White color combination with Scram 411 graphics gives this motorcycle a very funky look – makes it appear very stylish. There is no raised mud guard for the front wheels in Scram 411, unlike Himalayan. The tyres get a very nice tread pattern – looks very sporty and adds confidence to the rider to take on rough terrains. The Scram 411 features lowered seat height – meaning it is very welcoming for the short riders. A very simple round Halogen headlight in the front , copper-plated raised exhaust pipe is what you notice in the first go.

Ride and Handling

We rode this motorcycle for abut 120 Kms- Most of our motorcycling was on well paved highways and for a brief amount of time we went off the road near Kanakapura. The real strength of Scram 411 motorcycle was discovered off the road – we got to understand the bike really well on rough patches. The Scram 411 is extremely agile and very well manoeuvres on uneven tricky terrains. The Scram 411’s engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. We wish it featured a 6-speed gearbox to carry the thrill of riding at one more level up.

The suspension system in Royal Enfield Scram 411 is very well-functional, makes you ride over any crampy roads with ease without hurting your back. In the front, you get a Telescopic 41mm Forks 190mm Travel suspension and at the rear you get a monoshock with linkage V180mm Wheel Travel suspension. The motorcycle has got a pretty neat, reliable braking system – as it features dual channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). In the front you get a 300mm disc brake with 2-piston floating caliper and 240mm Disc brake with single piston caliper at the rear.

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 gets a very simple instrument cluster – doesn’t feature a tripper (used for navigation) in the standard variant – you will get this at an additional price. The Scram 411 also misses out on RPM meter – If you are a riding enthusiast, you may miss out viewing the needle scrolling through RPM measurements.

It is very comfortable to ride the Scram 411 motorcycle with a Pillion rider. We touched a maximum speed of 121 Kmph during our ride on highways – the motorcycle can comfortably reach above 100 Kmph and rides very smoothly. With respect to Pillion comfort, the Scram 411 offers ample amount of space at the back, ergonomically placed footpegs and grab handle.

Engine Performance and Dimensions

The Scram 411 is powered by Single Cylinder, 4-stroke, Air cooled, SOHC, Fuel injection type engine with a displacement of 411cc. The engine produces a maximum power of 24.3 bhp at 6500 rpm and delivers a maximum torque of 32 Nm at 4250 rpm. The Scram 411 offered a mileage of about 28 Kmpl during our test on highways as well as city roads.

Talking about the dimensions, the Scram 411 motorcycle measures 2160 mm in length, 840 mm in width and 1165 mm in height (Seat height = 795 mm). The motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1455mm and ground clearance of 200 mm. The total fuel tank capacity of Scram 411 motorcycle is 15 litres.

Colors and Price

The all new 2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 motorcycle is offered in 7 attractive color options namely – Graphite Blue, Graphite Red, Graphite Yellow, Blazing Black, Skyline Blue, White Flame and Silver Spirit. Check all Scram 411 colors. The motorcycle is launched at a starting price of Rs 2.05 lakhs (Ex-showroom Chennai)/

Verdict

The Scram 411 is a decent motorcycle and it can be your very good every-day bike and also has the flexibility to take it off roads. It is a very good buy.
