Tata Motors is rapidly accelerating its electric vehicle (EV) offensive in India, with two of its most anticipated models—the Tata Sierra EV and the luxury-focused Tata Avinya—confirmed for a 2026 market debut. These launches are part of a broader strategy to introduce five new EV nameplates by the end of fiscal year 2030, supported by a massive investment of ₹16,000–18,000 crore in products and ecosystem development.

Key Specifications and Features:

  • Platform: The Sierra EV is built on Tata’s dedicated acti.ev platform, designed specifically for pure electric performance.
  • Battery and Range: It is expected to offer multiple battery configurations, likely ranging from 55kWh to 75kWh, delivering an estimated driving range of 450 km to over 500 km on a single charge.
  • Performance: While front-wheel drive (FWD) will be standard, higher variants are expected to feature a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup for enhanced off-road capability.

Tata Avinya: Premium Luxury EV for Late 2026

Following the Sierra EV, the Tata Avinya range of premium luxury EVs is slated for launch toward the end of calendar year 2026. The Avinya represents Tata’s vision for high-end electric mobility, focusing on cutting-edge design and a spacious, lounge-like cabin experience.

Future Roadmap: 5 New EVs by 2030

Tata Motors’ electric ambitions do not stop with these two models. The company is on a mission to mainstream electric mobility across all segments.

  • Punch.ev Update: A new Punch.ev is scheduled to join the lineup in 2026 alongside the Sierra.
  • Upcoming Nameplates: Between FY2027 and FY2030, Tata plans to launch three additional EV nameplates beyond the Sierra and Avinya.
  • Infrastructure Growth: Supporting these vehicles is an aggressive charging network expansion, with a target of 1 million charge points across India by 2030.

This strategic expansion follows a major milestone for the brand, which recently surpassed 250,000 cumulative EV sales in India, with the Nexon.ev leading the charge at over 100,000 units sold.
