Yamaha FZ RAVE Review – Quick Highlights

Pros:

  • Brilliant Graphics, Looks Very Cool. Commands great road presence because of its Sand Beige color with contrasting black color plus the Orange colored alloy wheels
  • Competitively Priced at Rs 1.17 lakhs ( Around Rs 1.57 lakhs on-road price in Bengaluru)
  • The light spread from LED Headlamp is bright, intense and reaches long distance – We loved using more Dim-and-Dip than honking to clear traffic
  • Inherits most features from Yamaha FZ which is household name among Motorcyclists in India
  • RAVE has its own character. Top-notch ride quality and comfort offered. Fit and Finish is great

Cons:

  • RAVE is currently offered only in 2 colors – Limited color options
  • Although it gets a fully digital instrument cluster, it doesnt have Gear Indicator

Yamaha FZ RAVE is an updated version of new Yamaha FZ-S motorcycle with new graphics, colored wheels, powerful LED headlmaps and more. In this article we will discuss in detail the all new Yamaha FZ RAVE 150cc motorcycle, our experience after riding the motorcycle for over a week. What follows below is our detailed review of all new Yamaha FZ RAVE motorcycle

Introduction, Design and Looks

Yamaha is best known for its motorcycles than scooters. Although Fascinos, Ray ZRs, Aerox etc drive good volumes and popular in urban market – these are all recent scooter innovations from the brand after automatic scooters became very popular in Indian market. The origins of Yamaha in India is marked by its motorcycles like RX100, RX125 etc. The 150cc Yamaha FZ has been around almost a decade now ( since 2008). The 2nd Generation FZ with fuel injection engine was announced in the year 2014. Fast forward to year 2026, we have the most updated version of FZ – The FZ RAVE

Yamaha FZ RAVE 150cc motorcycle

By design, the RAVE inherits the fourth generation FZ-S Version 4.0. The New RAVE is just a facelift of the latest FZ-S model. The new graphics and color options of RAVE is very attractive and youthful. The orange colored alloy wheels, RAVE badging, gives it a very sporty looks. The one which we are reviewing here is the FZ RAVE in Matte Titan color. There is also another color option Metallic Black.

The motorcycle features very bright LED headlamps with a very good throw and spread – It is very bright and illuminates the road ahead very well. The front face of the bike looks great, so is the rear. It has that housing with vents around fuel tank, which looks cool and very much FZ. The Sand beige color is prominently used along with black color across the body, mud guard etc.

Talking about the Speedometer area, the all new Yamaha FZ RAVE features a fully digital instrument cluster with a well readable display. However, at times, the console is less readable under the hot sun. The digital instrument cluster of Yamaha FZ RAVE features all important speedometer, odometer, tachometer, clock and other useful info for the rider. The console lacks gear indicator display.

Dimensions – How big and bulky is the motorcycle?

Let us talk about the dimensions of the new Yamaha FZ RAVE motorcycle. The motorcycle weighs 136 Kgs ( Kerb weight) and has a ground clearance of 165mm. The motorcycle measures 1990 mm in length, 780 mm in width and 1080mm in height. The wheelbase ( distance between two wheels) measures 1330mm and the seat height of new FZ RAVE is 790mm. The seat is very much accessible even for the short riders. The motorcycle offers fuel tank capacity of 13 litres.

Engine, tech specs, power output details

Let us discuss on the core of the motorcycle -The engine. Yamaha FZ RAVE is powered by a 149cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine. It uses fuel injected system and engine is E-20 fuel compatible . The Yamaha FZ RAVE’s engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. The engine is capable of churning a peak torque of 13.3 Nm and delivers a maximum power output of 12.4 PS.

Performance in city, highways and country roads

150cc motorcycles are always a pleasure to ride. The RAVE is no different. It offers a right balance of power and torque to your ride. It is in a very sweet spot – Not too powerful, not under-powered as well. Yamaha FZ RAVE is an amazing city motorcycle – It handles the city’s stop-and-go traffic very well. Ride handling of FZ RAVE is precise and effortless. The engine is so refined, and it gives a soothing noise to your ears as you keep riding.

On highways, FZ RAVE can cruise with confidence and can easily attain a top speed of 105 Kmph to 110 Kmph without any hassle.. Once you cross that 100-mark, the motorcycle stabilises offering great ride stability at this speed. It is a very good highway motorcycle.

We took it through country roads the FZ RAVE did its best as well handling potholes well and the disc brakes were very affective.

Ride Control – Brakes & Suspension

The all new Yamaha FZ RAVE is equipped with 2-disc brake setup. The motorcycle gets a single channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) increasing ride confidence to navigate easily on wet and slippery surfaces.

In the front the motorcycle gets a telescopic fork suspension system and at the rear it gets swing arm type mono suspension. The motorcycle did a great job in handling city humps and potholes well offering a good amount of comfort to the rider.

Brakes on FZ RAVE was very responsive, offering a very good braking feedback to the rider. At times, we felt usage of front brakes in stop-and-go traffic had a very hard bite – a softer and gradual braking is what we preferred.

Ride Control – With and without Pillion

At times, we felt upshifting of gears was easy, but down shifting the gears was not as intuitive as expected. It was missing out some hits. The seat is wide also long – So your pillion rider can comfortably sit without an issue , the grab rails are also present.

Safety features and connectivity options

As said earlier FZ RAVE does not get a dual-channel ABS setup. Single-channel ABS is still a compromise on safety, however given the price tag of Rs 1.17 lakhs, single-channel ABS is a great safety feature to have. Yamaha is currently offering Bluetooth connectivity features on FZ RAVE where you could pair your phone and access some phone features on the go – It is available as an additional accessory for Rs 3,000. We could not test the bluetooth connectivity features during our review period.

Available color options and price details

The all new Yamaha FZ RAVE motorcycle is offered in 2 color options: Metallic Black and Matte Titan

Verdict – Should you buy the new FZ RAVE from Yamaha?

Who should buy the new Yamaha FZ RAVE? Youngsters love it – as it is very sportier looks wise and also affordable at the same time. Since FZ is already a popular brand, it is easy to trust them in the 150cc engine segment. The motorcycle offers good performance and offers an impressive fuel economy of about 50 Kmpl ( Real world conditions). If you are in the market for 150cc motorcycle in the year 2026, FZ RAVE is our recommended choice! Go for it!
