BMW F 450 GS Launched in India Starting at INR 4,70,000: Complete Details

BMW Motorrad India has officially launched the highly anticipated BMW F 450 GS in India. This premium adventure motorcycle has been developed in Germany by BMW Motorrad but will be locally produced in India. Designed to embody the true essence of a “best buddy” for both on-road and off-road adventures, the new motorcycle is engineered to deliver maximum confidence and full control over varied terrain. Deliveries are set to commence from June 2026 across the BMW Motorrad India dealer network.

BMW F 450 GS Highlights

The new BMW F 450 GS brings a rugged yet refined adventure character, marrying compact proportions with an unmistakable GS design language. Here is a detailed look at the core highlights that make this motorcycle a formidable entry in the adventure touring segment.

  • Engine and Performance: At the heart of the BMW F 450 GS is a newly developed 420 cc, liquid-cooled, two-cylinder inline engine. It produces a robust maximum output of 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The high-torque engine is uniquely installed transversely and features a crankshaft offset by 135 degrees. This structural choice ensures incredibly smooth operation with minimal vibrations and provides a distinct, thrilling offbeat exhaust note. The motorcycle can achieve a maximum speed of 165 km/h.
  • Transmission and Clutch: Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a newly designed six-speed transmission and an X-ring chain drive. A major highlight for enthusiasts is the integration of the Shift Assistant Pro, allowing for clutchless, imperceptible gear shifts. Furthermore, the segment-first Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) automates starting and stopping without stalling the engine. When paired together, the ERC manages low-speed engagement while the Shift Assistant Pro handles upshifts and downshifts, delivering an almost fully automated-like riding experience.
  • Chassis and Suspension: The motorcycle is built around a newly developed welded tubular steel frame integrated with forged parts, prioritizing low weight and high robustness for demanding off-road trails. The front wheel is guided by upside-down telescopic forks finished in gold, while the rear features an aluminum hollow cast double-armed swinging arm with a central spring strut. The rear suspension also boasts progressive damping with easily adjustable preload and rebound.

  • Braking and Safety Electronics: The F 450 GS is equipped with a floating single-disc brake at the front, featuring a Brembo 4-piston fixed caliper and a 310 mm brake disc. The rear gets a 240 mm single disc with a 1-piston floating caliper. Standard safety equipment includes ABS Pro for curve-safe braking, Dynamic Brake Control to prevent unintentional throttle application during emergency braking, and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) to stop the rear wheel from skidding during abrupt downshifting.
  • Technology and Ergonomics: The rider cockpit features a best-in-class 6.5-inch TFT display offering outstanding readability, linked to a multi-controller on the left handlebar for quick, intuitive navigation. The motorcycle also includes a USB-C charging socket, standard heated grips, and adjustable hand levers. The bike offers four riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro, and the specialized Enduro Pro.
  • Iconic GS Design: True to its heritage, the front profile is dominated by an ‘X’ shaped full LED headlight. The characteristic flyline runs from the prominent front beak, across the 14-liter tank and flat two-piece seat, continuing to the slim rear.

BMW F 450 GS Pricing and Competition

BMW has structured the pricing to make the F 450 GS an aspirational yet accessible entry into their premium adventure lineup. The introductory ex-showroom prices across the variants are as follows:

VariantEx-Showroom Price
The BMW F 450 GS (Base)INR 4,70,000
The BMW F 450 GS (Exclusive)INR 4,90,000
The BMW F 450 GS (GS Trophy)INR 5,30,000

Note: Delivery will be made ex-showroom, and the price is inclusive of GST but excludes Road Tax, RTO statutory taxes, and insurance.

To enhance the purchasing experience, BMW India Financial Services is offering customized finance solutions, including a monthly installment plan starting as low as INR 9,999. Customers can also opt for the comprehensive “3 Years of Care” package starting at an EMI of INR 10,499, which smartly bundles the motorcycle finance, a 3-year/unlimited km warranty, and a Service Inclusive plan covering 3 years or 30,000 km.

Is the BMW F 450 GS worth the premium over its competitors?

The premium mid-capacity adventure segment in India is highly competitive, currently seeing strong traction with single-cylinder motorcycles like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure. At a starting price of INR 4.70 Lakh, the BMW F 450 GS admittedly asks for a notable premium over these existing rivals.

However, this premium is justifiable for riders seeking the next level of touring comfort. Unlike its single-cylinder competitors, the F 450 GS brings a newly developed 420 cc twin-cylinder engine that promises vastly superior highway refinement, long-distance touring capabilities without massive vibrations, and smoother power delivery. Furthermore, standard segment-first equipment like the Easy Ride Clutch, Shift Assistant Pro, progressive damping, and a highly sophisticated electronics suite genuinely elevate its value. For riders looking for true multi-cylinder refinement paired with the prestige, build quality, and cutting-edge engineering associated with the BMW Motorrad badge, the F 450 GS shapes up to be an outstanding long-term investment.
