Honda Digital Innovation India and T-Hub Unveil First Startup Co-Development Program
A New Framework for Mobility Innovation in India
On May 25, 2026, Honda Digital Innovation India (HDII) and T-Hub announced the official launch of the Honda Innovation Challenge 1.0. Operating as India’s first Honda-backed startup co-development program, this initiative pairs global automotive engineering with local digital innovation. During the launch event held at T-Hub’s Phase 2 campus in Hyderabad, Honda’s senior leadership and industry stakeholders convened to award four high-potential Indian startups a unique co-development opportunity.

Funding and the 60-Day Proof of Concept Sprint
The four startups selected for the inaugural cohort are XANE AI, Attento Technologies, AppTestify and Sensight Technologies (AutoWiz). Each company will receive up to INR 10 lakh in co-development funding to execute a fully-funded 60-day Proof of Concept sprint.
Unlike traditional accelerator programs, this sprint focuses on practical application. Over the next 60 days, the startups will co-develop and validate their technological solutions using real Honda vehicles, actual telemetry data, and real Indian road conditions. The program will culminate in a final Demo Day scheduled for July 31, 2026.
Rigorous Curation and Market Fit Evaluation
The selection process for the Honda Innovation Challenge 1.0 was highly competitive, drawing over 300 applications from startups across the country covering six distinct use cases. The evaluation committee assessed candidates based on strict criteria, including technology maturity, India-market fit, and the technical ability to deliver a working Proof of Concept within the 60-day timeline.
From the initial applicant pool, 25 startups were shortlisted to pitch directly to Honda’s global teams across three dedicated pitch days, resulting in the final selection of the four cohort members.

Integrating Corporate Authority with Startup Agility
This program marks a critical milestone in Honda’s deepening commitment to the Indian market. HDII was established as a dedicated innovation entity to create digital platforms that integrate Honda motorcycles, automobiles, and digital services. Toshiaki Tanaka, COO of HDII, and Takuro Yoshimura, General Manager of HDII, structured the entity’s founding ethos around three core pillars: Experience, Connection, and Innovation.
T-Hub, recognized as India’s leading innovation ecosystem enabler and the world’s largest home for startups, facilitated the corporate-startup integration required for this initiative. Following a panel discussion on how collaboration is transforming Indian mobility, the launch event demonstrated a clear pathway for integrating startup agility into corporate automotive manufacturing.
Mr. Kunal Behl, Director of Honda Digital Innovation India and Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India Limited, presented the funding cheques to the selected founders. Highlighting the strategic direction of the program, Behl stated, “At Honda, we believe the future of mobility will be shaped through collaboration with bold thinkers and agile start-ups. The Honda Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to co-create real world solutions that enhances customer experience.” He further noted Honda’s active interest in engaging with startups that offer digital capabilities and fresh ideas to build impactful use cases.
