We had the pleasure of driving Maruti Suzuki‘s much awaited Off-road SUV – Jimny. We rather call this SUV as a “Tiny boy”, we have penned down few highlights in this review after taking this car in and around Bengaluru for a while for about a week! Let’s find out if it’s worth the shot!
Design and Looks
A quick take on the looks, the all new Maruti Jimny looks very small from the outside and the space inside is comparatively smaller as well but 4 people could manage inside very easily..
Interior
While the seats are comfortable and cushiony, you may or may not like the way the interior looks, provided it’s not a great fit n finish. The accessibility of things such as door pockets, power window buttons, cup holders are randomly placed making it a little difficult to get hands on.
Engine and Gearbox
Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5 litre K15B Engine churning out about 104 ps of power – You may get a feel that the engine is little laggy on the road, but for driving inside the city, Jimny delivers sufficient power. The gearbox feels a little on the harder side. The car doesn’t make much sound on low rpm but on higher rpms it screams.
Practicality and Dimensions
I must really appreciate the headlights offered in the new Jimny as they are very good! The tyres are just 15 inches which makes them look very very tiny. It kind of reminds me of the 3 wheel car from Mr bean. The boot space also is pretty less (219 litres) compared to the competition. The Jimny 5-Door SUV is available for sale in 7 amazing color options – Kinetic Yellow, Sizzling Red, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey and Pearl Arctic White – 2 of them getting bluish black roof.
Talking about the dimensions, the all new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door SUV measures 3,985 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height. The car’s ground clearance is 210 mm and has a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres.
Verdict
Over all,I would give it a 7/10 rating from all aspects On road, off road, rains, sunny days this car just performs well for your city and once in a while long drives. What it lacks is the easy accessibility and design elements at places.
