Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster Unveiled

Mercedes-AMG is extending its sports car portfolio with the new AMG GT S Roadster as an attractive open-air model. The new Roadster is powered by a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 that douses  out 522hp and 670Nm of torque. This beast has  a 0-100kph sprint time of 3.8sec and a top speed of 307kph. The GT S shares  the same driveline as the GT,  however the GT-S has  the four-wheel drive seen on the GT C and GT R has optional.

Unlike the GT range, the GT S is a rear wheel drive married to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.  It gets a standard sports exhaust as well as an electronically controlled limited-slip differential which is not available on the lower-end GT and it is packed with adaptive dampers, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels.

Buyers can pick-up AMG’s Dynamic Plus package which offers firmer suspension, active engine mount and sportier and responsive steering. It also gets world-class interiors with Nappa leather  and Dinamica upholstery.

The car is expected to be priced around £1,25,000 in UK which translates to Rs 1.15 crore in India.

AMG’s GT model range now includes 12 models, including 3 versions of the new GT 4-Door Coupé (which is actually more technically related to the E-class) and two customer racing models. The range will culminate with a GT Black Series, due in year 2020 with an expected power figure of 637PS.

Currently in India, Mercedes-AMG sells the GT Roadster, GT S and GT R coupes at Rs 2.19 crore, Rs 2.09 crore and Rs 2.23 crore, respectively (prices ex-showroom, India). The brand has not revealed any details about the new GT S Roadster coming to India.
