Introduction
After a long gap, we got an opportunity to review Suzuki’s most popular scooter – the new Suzuki Access ( Ride Connect Edition). You can check our last year’s coverage of Suzuki e-Access electric scooter here. Access continues to dominate the Indian scooter market standing only behind Honda Activa. In this review, you can see some good photos of new Access Ride connect edition, specs and feature details and our experience testing this petrol scooter.

Design and Looks
Design and looks wise, it borrows the same aesthetics from the earlier version of Suzuki Access with minor changes here and there. We liked the color of Access which we reviewed here – Metallic Mat Black. The scooter features a nice headlight design in the front which is LED powered. The digital console is simple where it features the speedometer prominently. You can find the scooter very rider friendly as it features two pockets in the front where you can store small items like mobile phone, a small wallet etc – which is quite handy for the everyday usage of the scooter. The scooter also features a dedicated USB port in the front which is well lit. On the go, you can charge your phone by docking into front pocket and connecting the other end to the USB port.

The scooter features a good amount of under seat storage. Behind the scooter there is an external fuel filling facility which gets a dedicated lid that blends well with the body of the scooter. The seat is wide enough with a good room to accommodate both the rider and pillion.

Dimensions
The new Suzuki Access offers a good ground clearance of 160 mm. The scooter is very light – just weighs about 105 kgs making it very practical and well accessible even for ladies. Like any other scooter, the new Suzuki Access gets a small fuel tank with a capacity of 5.3 litres. Seat height of 770mm is very friendly even for short riders. The scooter measures 1,155 mm in height, 690 mm in width, 1835 mm in length. The wheelbase of new Suzuki Access is 1260mm. The new Suzuki Access features 12 inch wheel in the front and 10 inch wheel at the rear side – this may not be too suitable for driving through extremely bumpy road. The small wheels makes it well usable for urban use cases where roads are well paved.

Engine and Specs
The new Suzuki Access has dropped the wording “125” from its badge – It is now just called “Access” instead of “Access 125”. The scooter continues to feature the same 125cc engine. It is a 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled engine which is mated to a CVT transmission automatic gearbox. Talking about the power figures, the new Suzuki Access Ride Connect edition churns out a maximum power of 6.2 kW and delivers a peak torque of 10.2 Nm. That is about the engine tech specs on the paper. In real life, the scooter feels very smooth to ride – thanks to its well refined engine.

Unlike other automatic scooters on the road (like NTORQ 125), the Access does not shout unnecessarily and powers your scooter in a wholesome way. As a rider you will experience a very stable and convenient ride.

Performance and Handling
We tested the new Suzuki Access scooter in mostly well paved urban roads and only a little bit on bumpy muddy roads. Cruising at the speed of 90 kmph to 100+ kmph was very easy on highways. The green Eco indicator in the scooter helps you to save fuel by optimally adjusting your riding pace, We really liked the real-time mileage feature especially when the scooter is running on Trip F, helps you to forecast the maximum amount of distance which you could cover as it shows the fuel efficiency of your ride in real time ( as you use the throttle).

Handling wise, it offers very good maneuverability. The scooter is fun and peppy to ride.Offers good control over the road. It feels premium as well.
Brakes and Suspension
The new Suzuki Access Ride Connect edition offers Disc brake at the front and Drum brakes at the rear. The suspension on offer was good enough to take on uneven surfaces of our city roads. It also provides ample amount of cushion for the rider and the pillion.

Suzuki Ride Connect
Surprisingly, pairing the Suzuki Access scooter with Suzuki Ride Connect app with the phone was extremely easy – just took under a minute. The Suzuki Ride connect app has a good user interface showing important riding stats, fuel remaining, previous ride stats etc. The app and scooter connects via bluetooth, therefore it also shows calls and message alerts on the scooter display. Our favourite feature on Suzuki Ride Connect app was navigation, the scooter flawlessly displays Turn-by-Turn navigation instructions on the go. The underlying maps used was Mappls by MapMyIndia.
